Sydney-born journalist and consultant Richard Ogier has been contributing to the Australian and international media from France and Germany over more than 20 years.

He was a correspondent in France, then Press Attaché, media and public affairs adviser, at the Australian Embassy in Paris reporting internally for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, on French public policy and politics, sectoral trade, business and cultural issues. He wrote speeches, contributed to specific trade case and wider sectoral negotiations and handled the media and public affairs aspects of visits by senior politicians to France and North Africa. In Australia, he was a News Limited and Australian Associated Press news-agency journalist.

Richard Ogier was educated at Flinders University and the University of Adelaide, from where he has a degree in politics, at the University of Nantes in France and at the University of Cambridge.

Richard co-edited the University of Adelaide student newspaper and was a byline in the main South Australian daily when still an undergraduate, writing about jazz and contemporary music.
